The 180 Degree Turn in the Road

We are about to start a study on the Book of Revelation in our weekly Bible study.  I have read this book a couple of times before and look forward to an in-depth study and discussion about it.  Basically it is the final chapter in the Book of Life which tells about the close of history as we know it.  It is the end with a promise of a new, never-ending, beginning.

It is troubling to read the book without wondering why so many people would still not repent.  In Matthew 7 Jesus tells about the final choices, Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many are who enter through it. For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it.  It is certainly a choice that people should make sooner than later.  Jesus also mentions that He is the only way, John 14:6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through me.

So how do people know that there are two roads that lead to eternity?  How will people know that the big wide four lane freeway is leading to eternal death and separation and the narrow pathway is leading to eternal life?  If people are not Bible reading people how will they find out?  When Jesus was departing from this earth, just prior to ascending, His last words to us are found in Acts 1:8, But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.

Witnessing is for all believers.  If Jesus is the Lord and Savior of your life, you are in the family of God.  If you are in the family of God you are a witness.  There has to be someone you know that is heading down the wide freeway to destruction that you would like to turn 180 degrees in the other direction to that narrow pathway.  They will have eternity to thank you.  How do you witness?  The best way is to proclaim the Good-News of the Gospel.  John 3:16, For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.  That one verse states it best, if you believe in Jesus, you will have eternal life with Him.  We have to not be afraid to witness because it is not by what we say, the Bible says, No one comes to the Father unless they are drawn by God’s Spirit, but God does use mere people to plant the seeds.

Once the seed is planted it says in Hebrews 7:25, "Where he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him."
