An Open Invitation

“Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28.  The invitation from Jesus to Come unto Me are familiar words, but still so many people do not come.  Is there a better time for them to come?  Will they come tomorrow?  But Luke 14:17 says, All things are now ready, therefore come now!  Jesus came into this world to save sinners; His plea to Come Now should not be put off until we are ready.

In this very busy world that we live in we are truly time-poor.  We have a need to manage our time to accomplish all that we have to do every day.  If our employer has job requirements that demand your time, you naturally do everything you can to keep the boss happy, job insurance!  But we need to guard our time that we should have set aside for God everyday also.  If we seek Him He will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go.  Proverbs 16:9 says that, “A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps.”   If we come to Christ, He will guide us through this life.

Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving kindness have I drawn thee, Jeremiah 13:3.  That is how we begin our, Coming to Christ.  He draws us, He calls us.  His mission was to save us, so He starts by drawing us to Him.  I’m ashamed to say that I put it off for so many years that I can’t count them.  BUT, God the Father is ‘not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.’   I am thankful that Jesus waited for me and being born again I now have a hunger in my heart to please God every day.  I am just so sorry that I have so much wreckage in my past.  Through the Grace of God I will learn how to leave my past behind and live with the hope of tomorrow.

What you do when you, Come to Christ, is to get to know Him better.   I read an article where someone likened the Bible to a jigsaw puzzle.  When you dump it out of the box you have no idea what it is or where to start, but as you build the border around it, (the four Gospels) you start to see where more and more pieces fit as you continue to build.   Each truth or promise that you read is another important piece for that big puzzle and you begin to see more clearly with much more understanding.    And much like that puzzle, the further along you get, you will begin to see which pieces are missing, and what areas of the puzzle to concentrate on next.
