After Life Assurance

Most people have a life insurance policy that helps to take care of things when they die, BUT how many people have an after-life policy?  The Bible refers to it as Life Assurance.   In Ecclesiastes 3:11 it states that God has planted eternity in the human heart.  Every person is born with eternity written on their heart and every person has their own eraser with the choices that we make in our lives.

Why is it that most people think more of these things when they are older?  When I read the paper each night and come to the obits page my eyes always scans the ages of those listed.  The Bible even says in Psalm 90 that Seventy years are given to us! Some even live to eighty.  So naturally when your age gets within these number ranges and you realize that God knows exactly when you will take your last breadth, you are comforted to know that you have an after-life Assurance policy or promise.

You have that promise because it says in James 1:21, humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.  Besides the assurance of salvation, you are promised in Psalm 91 that he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go.  In Luke it states two different times that there is much Joy in Heaven for each and every one of us that repents and returns to the fold.

It is sad that when people are younger it seems that the cares of life in general consumes their every thought.  This leaves little or no time to think of things so far off.  We are all going to grow old and retire and then there will be time to give thought to these issues.   But, like I mentioned a couple of paragraphs up, God knows exactly when each one of us is going to take their last breadth!   But take this promise to heart; The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.  Peter 3:9.  He does not want any to be lost.  Come close to God, and God will come close to you.  James 4:8.

Throughout a person’s life they don’t deliberately turn away from God or Religion, but unless they have a steady input of the Living Words, they will tend to drift away.  In Hebrews 2:1 it warns of drifting away if we don’t keep our attention focused on what we have learned.  But look at the promise for those that practice those things; 2Peter 1:11, for as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble; 11for in this way the entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be abundantly supplied to you.  (That life-assurance will be abundantly supplied!)

What better way to close this letter than my 2nd favorite verse, Rev. 22:17, The Spirit and the bride say, "Come." Let anyone who hears this say, "Come." Let anyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who desires drink freely from the water of life.  Different Bible versions say; everyone, whoever desires, let the one who wants, those who want, the one who wishes.   Whichever version you want to put in there it is very plain, there is no exclusion.  God wants ALL to come.  It does not say that this verse is for everyone except _____!  It is for ALL.   All who desire and come.

The Birth of Christ brought God to man, the Cross of Christ brings man to God!
