And He was Very Pleased

In the six day account of God creating the universe, each of the first five days of creation was followed with the statement, God was pleased.  But following the sixth day God was very pleased.  God was very pleased because He had made man in His image.  And He had created a world and a universe that was specifically set up for life to exist.  His real work of art, His joy of the six day creation story, is mankind, all mankind.  And as it was in the garden prior to the fall, the plan was to have daily, close fellowship between God and man.  We were all made to relate to Him in a way that no other part of His creation can.  We are designed for a close relationship with God Himself.  It will give a life meaning and purpose.

When we go through this short lifetime on earth, it should be with anticipation and Hope for the beautiful life eternal that He has promised to those who love Him and follow Him here in this dress rehearsal.  The paradise that Adam and Eve had is just a shadow of what is to come.

Now as you read on through the first 8 chapters of Genesis you find that sin started with Eve and Adam and got progressively worse as it lead up to the flood.  That is a clear example of how powerful Satan is in the world.  From disobedience in the garden to murder by the first person born in this world, Cain, to rampant sin growing out of control, Gen. 6:5-7, “When the Lord saw how wicked everyone on earth was and how evil their thoughts were all the time, 6he was sorry that he had ever made them and put them on the earth. He was so filled with regret 7that he said, “I will wipe out these people I have created, and also the animals and the birds, because I am sorry that I made any of them.”

Up to this point in history people were living to be 700, 800, 900 years old, but now God decided, Then the Lord said, “I will not allow people to live forever; they are mortal. From now on they will live no longer than 120 years.  So Noah and his family were found to be the only righteous people that God would save, as well as some of each animal to repopulate again after the flood.  What we see in the flood is God’s first plan to correct mankind and bring us back to fellowship with Him.  Following the flood was a rainbow that God said was His promise that never again will all living beings be destroyed by a flood; never again will a flood destroy the earth.

Now keep in mind that we are only in the sixth chapter of the Bible when God is fed up with the wickedly sinful people that He created to have a loving fellowship with!  There are a total of 1,189 chapters and we are only in number six.  Throughout the rest of the Bible there are countless times where the people of God have turned away, where the Kings and Judges of His people were not following God, where He should have or could have justly given up on them.   BUT, He didn’t.  He hasn’t.  That is because He has had a plan from the beginning that will save mankind.  Those who repent of their sins and turn from their wicked ways will be saved.  1 John 1:9, But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.  2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
