Understanding God's Grace

The only way that anyone can understand God’s Grace is to try and understand how much God loves mankind.  For it is only because of God’s unending love for us, that He so freely gives us unearned Grace.  It is only by the Grace of God that we can take our next breadth; it is by the Grace of God that the sunshine falls upon the sinner the same as on the saint.  God’s Grace does not favor because God’s love for everyone is the same, endless.   Both God’s love and grace are freely given to all but mostly referred to in the reborn sinner that has repented and changed from his evil ways and committed his life to Christ.  That exemplifies Grace, unmerited, unearned, but freely given.   Hosea 14:4 states that, “I will love them freely.”

Can our mere mortal minds comprehend something so big, that the God of the universe loves us freely?   That is the word that trips most people up, freely.  We are in an age where we understand that nothing is free!   But that is the worldly view, so we are glad that, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD, Isaiah 55:8.  Many people, (I am guilty myself) quite often have a works attitude, or a doubtful attitude.  And in our world today are many types of people, which greatly adds to a person’s doubt.  But the Bible is very clear when it says, "I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”   So education, wealth, status, or any such worldly benchmarks, makes no difference.  You need to be reborn, repent, and believe as a little child does, that Jesus Love you and that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners.

A good verse to show God’s grace and love for us is, Romans 6:23, “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life.”  When you earn death because of sin, it is referred to as wages. You actually have to work at it, to collect those wages.  BUT, it is written in God’s word that eternal life is a GIFT.  You cannot earn it or pay for it; we can only obtain it as a free gift from God.  “I will love them freely.”   For the person with doubts because they have fallen too far to get back up, they are comforted to know that the grace of God is free, a gift, and without price!  That promise from God’s word elevates the lowest of sinners to the equality of the redeemed.

Where is it said that God’s love is unending?  Romans 8:39, No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.   This promise shows that the Love and Grace of God is mightier than your guilt and sin.  “Where sin abounds, grace abounds much more.”  Romans 5:20

I am most thankful for this verse in 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understands slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
