Time is Important

The Bible describes our lives as a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes!  A wave tossed in the ocean, and is quickly gone.  If you just think for a minute how true that is, it is scary.  We are all just one breath away from ‘vanishing’.  None of us is guaranteed our next second in time.

The Bible gives us all great hope though, given the fact that we all have to die someday.  We all do have a choice to make, not only how we navigate this life but also in where we spend our eternal life.

Many years ago God gave Moses the rules to follow, and those Ten Commandments are still our guiding light today.  But in God’s master plan He knew that we humans could not follow those rules 100% of the time.  He knew before He created the world that we would need help.  Sin does not, cannot, or will not ever be associated with a Holy God.  His plan all along was to send His Son to be the propitiation for our sins, and die on the cross so that we could enjoy life eternal.  "My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world" (1 John 2:1, 2).

From the good news of the New Testament we read that to receive this gift of eternal life you must trust in Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to come into your life and began a change in you from the inside out.  Romans 10:13 states that “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!”  Pray to God and ask Him to come into your heart.  The Bible says that we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God, so we all need Him.  I am ashamed to say that over my life I have committed many sins, but am also so very thankful for the amazing Grace and forgiveness that our ever loving God has for all of us.   1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.  Hebrews 8:12 I will forgive them for the wicked things they did, and I will not remember their sins anymore.

So if you are a child of God it doesn’t matter if your life is as short as a puff of smoke.  As soon as you take your last breath, you will be in a better place anyhow!  “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life, and you will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” Psalm 23:6
