The Power of Words

The Powerful Influence of Music

There is a terrific war going on in this world for the thoughts and minds of our young people.  The bad guy that is waging the battle is satan himself through the use of music, movies and games.

I recently read an article that talked mainly of the power that our words that we speak have, which automatically lead to the messages we get from the words we hear in the songs we listen to.

In our everyday words we speak, we have the power to encourage or discourage, the choice is ours.  Death and life are in the power of the tongue, Proverb 18:21.  You never know how a pleasant, uplifting word to someone, at just the right time, totally makes their day.  Likewise, a negative comment could send someone over the edge.  Words are powerful, and in Goggling this topic I was amazed at what I found.

In a recent survey it was pointed out that a typical teenager listens to an average of 10,000 hours of Rock music from 7th to 10th grade.  That is an incredible amount of hours that satan has control over what goes into their ears.  A quote that I ran across confirms what is happening; “You let me write the songs that a nation sings, and I don’t care who makes the laws.”  This hard rock fatalistic music has taken its toll on many suicidal teens over the years as well as many of the band leaders.   "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities , against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places."  Ephesians 6:12

The Bible is clear that Satan has control of the world until Christ returns.  And satan enlisted some powerful people to work and recruit for him.  The power of music is society-shaping and it happens subliminally!  The sad thing is that they admit what they are doing like this comment from MTV in 1982; "The strongest appeal you can make is emotionally. If you can get their emotions going, make them forget their logic, you've got them. AT MTV, WE DON'T SHOOT FOR THE 14-YEAR OLDS, WE OWN THEM."

“For every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:36,37)

Is it part of the reason for so many shootings?  Is it part of the reason for so much drug use?
