We Are Fearfully and

Wonderfully Made

We read in the Bible that God created man in his own image, in the image of God He created him, Gen. 1:27.  Add to that, King David writes in Psalms that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  It is sad to know that many people don’t know they were created special and unique by a creator that has an interest in His creation.

You can picture this better when you put it in the terms of Genesis, where man was created to spend time daily walking and talking with God.  Man was created in perfect health, not subject to death, with dominion over the animal world.  Life in the Garden was perfect.  But since God gave man the ability of free choice, man made the wrong choice, and was evicted from the Garden, losing their perfect, close, daily relationship with their creator God.

Every person since then has been born with a sinful nature, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned.  The Apostle Paul says even of himself; And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can't. I want to do what is good, but I don't. I don't want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don't want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is sin living in me that does it.  A sinful power within that makes us a slave to sin.  And Paul is considered to be one of the greatest Apostles.

But, Paul in the very next chapter tells us how we can defeat that power we are born with.  Romans 8; 1, tells us, So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. To be free of the sinful nature that leads to death and to be free of the condemnation that is directed to unrepentant sinners, we need to belong to Jesus Christ.  When we are in Jesus Christ we will be led by the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature.

The best part is, if we are led by the Spirit of God we are children of God, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. Joint heirs with Christ in the Kingdom of our Creator God.
