The World is Ending Tomorrow, Article

Because, I don’t know, in fact it says that nobody knows when it will come.  But I can say with the authority of the inspired Words in the Bible that the end IS definitely coming.  There are numerous references to the end times, and the life to come.

We are in chapter 10 and 11 in our Bible study of Revelation.  I am thankful that we can study with such knowledgeable Bible people that collectively we can all get a clearer understanding of scripture.  It has become clear though that in giving us His word, God has put us in possession of every truth essential to our salvation.  So there will be no excuses.

As we study deeper into the middle and closing chapters of Revelation it becomes very clear how the story ends.  We already knew that Jesus wins and Satan gets sent to Lake of Fire but the closing scenes before the final end is the troubling part of Revelation.  Jesus spoke of them in The Olivet discourse as His description of the end times, times of trouble unlike anything seen before.

This is why most people don’t like to read Revelation.  They don’t like to see God as someone who would punish so severely, even sending some people to hell forever!  When it comes down to judgment they prefer to see God as a very loving and forgiving God who will just wipe my slate clean right there and I will walk through those pearly gates alongside the saints. Right?

Trouble with that picture is that it is a grand deception of Satan for all those who don’t want to know the whole story.  God is Love, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. If that is the only verse we know in the Bible, we might believe that we have a ticket to Heaven, that God would not punish us.  But God is also Holy,For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.  As a perfectly Holy God, He cannot tolerate sin and He deals with sin in one of two ways, either grace or wrath.

Now we can escape the wrath of God and be covered by His Grace by placing our faith in Jesus.  There is no salvation apart from Jesus, “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”  Whether the 2nd coming of Jesus will be our Blessed Hope or our Holy Terror is yet another choice that is ours to make.  The sooner we choose the more Blessed Hope we can have in this life.

God's wrath is never motivated by a desire to punish. Rather, it is designed to bring people to repentance so that they might be saved. Even in His wrath, God remembers mercy.
