Faith Put to the Test

Knowing that Faith is the foundation of growth, and more importantly, that without Faith it is impossible to please God, how does the everyday Christian trust God through adversity?  When you look at the two words of Faith and fear, they are opposites.  With a sound Faith we are saying that we have Faith and Trust in God to guide our daily lives.  SO, whenever we fear something, are we saying that we do not Trust God?  In John 14:1 Jesus said, "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.

Although fear is an enemy and in many cases a tool of the evil one, I believe everyone feels fear of something or some level, from time to time.  Nevertheless, it is a Biblical fact that fear can be overcome by a strong Faith.  God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline. 2 Tim. 1:7

You can read many stories in the Bible where someone’s faith got them healed.  In Mark 5:21 when the woman with the bleeding problem just knew that if she could only touch his clothes as He passed by, she would be healed, and she was.  In Luke 18:35 the blind beggar who was told that Jesus was passing by, shouted out Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.  As Jesus spoke with him and restored his eyesight He said, “Receive your sight, your faith has made you well.”  How much Faith did it take for over 600,000 Israelites to walk across the Red Sea on dry ground in between two huge walls of water?  But than two months later to complain out in the desert, that they didn’t have food or water.  The sad thing about their on again, off again faith was that God was ALWAYS with them!  He traveled with them during the days in a pillar of cloud to guide them and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so they could travel by day or by night. Exodus 13:21

Unfortunately I think most people have Faith tests.  Its how we get through them that will help us grow.  All we ever need to know is that God will never leave you.  Hebrews 13:5 says, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”  And in 1 peter 5:7, Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.   If you know that there is Nothing you can do to make God love you less and there is Nothing you can do to make God love you more, it’s a huge boost to a Faith that can let loose of the adversity in your life.

Faith = Trusting, So Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.
