Mary Pondered These Things in Her Heart

In Luke 1:29 when the Angel first appeared to Mary it says that Mary was confused and disturbed trying to think what the Angel had told her.  But when the Angel said, Don’t be afraid Mary, for you have found favor with God, I’m sure that had a calming effect on her.  Enough for her to say, "I am the Lord's servant. May everything you have said about me come true."

I am sure that some of these Angel’s words along with those of the three shepherd’s words were some that Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.  The thoughts that might have gone through her head throughout the nine months of carrying the baby that came from God.

On that night in the stable when Jesus was born there were lowly shepherds working the night shift when an Angel appeared and said, “Don't be afraid!" he said. "I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.  The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has been born today in Bethlehem.

After the shepherds heard these things they went to find the child, After seeing him, the shepherds told what had happened and what the angel had said to them about this child.  And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds. 19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Think of the Joy and Peace that she could ponder in her heart knowing that God had chosen her to bring into the world a Savior for all mankind.  Mary could ponder in her heart the writings from Isaiah 7:14, Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. (God with us).

We can all ponder in our hearts the fact that Jesus did not come into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.  He is our one and only Savior that we can put our faith and trust in.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8: 38-39
