Battles and Choices

You are probably well aware of the daily battlefield going on in our minds. It is the battle of the many choices that we are confronted with each and every day. Some choices are very obvious but many are very subtle and not even noticed.

There are many fronts to this battlefield, but the most significant is the spiritual battle we face with our choices that will lead to life or death! These battles are not a “one and done” fight. Satan is very real and his workers will attack the wavering Christian daily. But the good news is, James 4:7 So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

The Apostle Paul nailed it when he said in Romans 7:15-20,  I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.  As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.  For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.  For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.  Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.  If a saint like Paul has trouble like this, you can bet that we will have them too.

The battles are real and the battles are daily.  Someone once said, “If satan is not tempting and tormenting you everyday, its because you already are in his camp”!  Satan and his army of evil spirits are chasing after God’s children to deceive them into his domain. God wants to give us life, satan gives only death.

Today we can actually see the wickedness, turmoil, and evil that is going on and it seems to be getting worse with each new day. And what does that tell us?  As in the days of Noah, God’s patience will eventually run out. 2 Peter 3:9, The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

God is patiently waiting for all people to repent and be saved, but will not go against anyone’s free will, He will not force anyone. Satan on the other hand does not want anyone specifically, he just wants to keep anyone he can from God’s Kingdom. All we will be for satan will be fire starter. The 2nd death is all that satan can offer.

As Moses told the Israelites as they neared the promised land, he called the heavens and earth as witness and set the choices before them, life and death, blessings and curses. And that is the choice that we are faced with today, we can choose life or death, blessings or curses, There is the most important choice you will make.

Jesus is all you need.
You should seek nothing more—and settle for nothing less.
