A Lamp Unto Your Feet

The prince of darkness would prefer to have us all operate in darkness, to prepare us all for his future home of outer darkness.  But Jesus says, I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life. John 8:12.

In the Book of John where John gives his eye witness account of his time spent with Jesus as one of his disciples,  1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us.

This clearly points out that Jesus came into this dark world as a beacon of light, to show us how to walk in the light.  He came as the Living Word of God to show us the way, the truth and the Life.  That No one can come to the Father except through Him.  Through the Light of His Word we can see our sin and the imperfection of our disobedience.  The Light of the word directs us in our work and way.  Where there is light, the path is more easily seen.  But, just as the brightest light on the darkest path is of no use to a blind man, so it is for the Word of God.  It needs to be in our hearts and in our minds.  The more we read and learn, the brighter our light will be.  This dark world needs more light.

The shadows that Satan casts are causing a tremendous spiritual lukewarmness in his dark kingdom.   When false teachings and public opinions are the driving force behind the laws and statues that govern all people, you just have to know there is darkness involved.  (Or is it stupidity?  A specific ad on TV to legalize marijuana states that with the taxes on the sale of marijuana they can use some of the funds for drug treatment!)  Approving a gateway drug to fund drug treatment?  C’mon man!

BUT, no matter how misguided things are, every person still has access to the same messages from the Bible; Jesus came into this world to save sinners.  There is promise after promise that; if we search, we will find, if we knock, the door will be open, if we thirst than come and drink the water of life freely.  God is patient with our procrastination, He is waiting until all have returned to Him, He wants not one soul to perish.

As we are given freely the Light of Life, it should be reflected from us in what we do and say.  The more light that can shine the dimmer the prince of darkness will become.
