The Book of Truth

Many people are avid readers, one book after another, reading constantly.  Very seldom though will they ever read the same book twice.   Like movies, once is enough and they move on to the next exciting; mystery, western, love story, Harry Potter?  There are countless books on any subject, to keep a reader busy endlessly.  But………….

The Bible is the only book that is read over and over again, with the same characters, stories, plots and ending.   The Bible is the Only Book That Can Make Us Wise unto Salvation.  James 1:21 "for of His own will begat He us with the Word of truth, the engrafted Word, which is able to save your souls".    And John 5:24 states, "he that heareth My words"—that is, receiveth them into good and honest hearts—(that heareth the Word and understandeth it,) "hath everlasting life".

The Bible is the only book that when reading it over and over you will always find something new that you didn’t notice before.  Some key words in the verses above, “he that understands it”, is why many people study the Bible, (Although, Bible knowledge is not gained without the help of the Holy Spirit.)  You have to have unwavering faith in God to lead you to His truths.  As in the story of Nicodemus, “whosoever believeth is born of God.”   We don’t experience any physical shock, but a great change takes place in us, especially in our relation to God. "Old things are passed away, and behold all things are become new",  2 Corinthians 5:17.

As you read and study the Bible you will plainly see what God has promised to those that love Him.  So to the written word we look for a final test as to our possession in God. "This is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life" (1 John 5:11, 12). “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.” (Ephesians 1:7) and through the recorded Word of His promise, for this record was "written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name" (John 20:31). The Scriptures hold God’s promise to us, by word and oath (Hebrews 6:17,18), sealed with the blood of Jesus Christ (Matthew 26:28), an inheritance in eternal life.
