The Wise Men

They Can’t Explain It Away.

The other day I was flipping through the channels looking for a game and I ran across something on the History channel that caught my attention.   Some Physicists were discussing how the things mentioned in the Bible actually happened.

They have been studying the stars and planets for many years to see what could have caused that bright star in the sky for those wise men to follow.   They have determined through their many years of study that the planet Jupiter was eclipsed by the planet Venus about that time frame, to have caused a bright light like that.   Discounting totally that there would have been a star that guided the wise men.   In Matthew2:2, “Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.”

I can’t understand why educated professionals like these would spend so much time and effort to reconstruct the orbiting planets to see if they can second-guess the Bible.   It states as plain as day that the wise men followed a bright star that led them to the town of Bethlehem and the baby Jesus.   The Bible does unequivocally claim to be the Word of God.  Written by many different writers who were inspired by God in what they wrote.  2 Timothy 3:16, states that every scripture is God-Breathed.

What these educated men should be bringing to light is, what the wise men did when they saw this bright star.  First of all, they believed enough to set out in search.  They followed the star asking, “Where is he that is born King of the Jews?”  They were in search so that they could worship this new born King.  When they had found Him, they gave gifts of Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh.   Gold in those days was a gift suited for a King.

I saw a sign on a Church Reader-board this week that said, Wise Men Still Seek Him.  Do all of the wise men of today that see that ‘bright light’; believe enough to search until they find Him?   We can only hope and pray that wise men today still do search.  Jesus Himself said seek and you shall find.
