Hope for the Sinner

All have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God.  And in Exodus God replies to Moses, "No, I will erase the name of everyone who has sinned against me.  To a new believer that has just started reading the Bible it might sound like, if you make one mistake, you are doomed!  Don’t despair, read the rest of the story!

After reading through the Old Testament, you will begin to see why the New Testament Gospels are referred to as the Good News.   They are the Good News of Jesus Christ.  They were written by the people who spent three and a half years with Jesus during his ministry.  They were eye witnesses.  And they were plain, common everyday people, each personally called by Jesus to follow Him.

Why are the Gospels called the Good News?  First, it should be noted that this Good News plan was part of God’s Salvation plan for mankind before the creation of the earth!  It was God’s master plan to send His Son to redeem His people from sin.  "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life” (that well known verse again)  The Good News is all about the life, ministry, teachings, death and resurrection of Jesus.  It’s a story of how much God loves us and doesn’t want us to perish.

This wonderful Good News plan of salvation is totally free to us for the asking!  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you; for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.   So it is a shame for any soul to perish in the dark when the light is shining so brightly.  When Jesus in His own words said all you have to do is ask, seek, or knock, how much easier can it be?  Luke 11:10, For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds.  Be earnest, be honest and you will find Him.

If we truly believe that the Bible was inspired by God, that the words are true, than by faith we need to act on the words of God for all that we do in this life and for our hope in the eternal life to come.

Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.
