Why is the Bible the

Best Selling Book of all Time.

There are three reasons that quickly come to mind that could answer that;

  1.  It truly is a Book of Truth that has not, does not and will not ever change.

  2.  It was inspired by God and it is written that God cannot lie.  Hebrews 6:18

  3.  It includes eye witness accounts from the Apostles that spent their days with Jesus.

If anyone wanted to know Jesus/God as well as His disciples did, you would want to read the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  These four Apostles walked daily with Jesus and witnessed every day of His short ministry.  It is very interesting to read the four Gospels to see each one’s account of their time spent with Jesus.  Although they are all focused on the life and ministry of Jesus, each writer was writing for a specific audience.  That said, all of the Gospels are very relevant for any reader today.

The Gospel of John though, puts the reader there.  This Gospel to me is why the Bible is a Living Word.  John wraps the Bible up in his first sentence.  In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:14 and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.  He was with God in the beginning.  The Word refers to Jesus Christ, who is distinct from the Father, yet is God in the fullest sense.  John 10:33, I and the Father are one.  And Revelation 1:8, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End,” says the Lord, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”

By reading these four Gospels, you understand why Jesus had to come in human form to save mankind.  With an open and receptive mind you will see God’s love for mankind and the reason for the ultimate sacrifice that had to be made.  John 15:13 - “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.”

The more I read the Bible and sit in on Bible studies; it is becoming more apparent all the time, that the God of this vast universe has unconditional love for every person on this earth.  He is patiently waiting for each person to repent of their sins and return to Him, and I can thank God for that!

Another New Testament writer that wrote many of the Books is the Apostle Paul.  He is a story in itself, a very devote Jew that spent most of his life persecuting followers of Jesus Christ!  He was part of the Jewish people that were the driving force behind the crucifixion of Jesus.  The Jewish people that believed in the coming of a Messiah, but did not recognize Him when He arrived.  After the conversion of Paul, he became the Apostle that took the Good News to the Gentiles, and beyond.
