Born Again

I have to admit that when I first heard the term Born Again, I sort of thought it was some ‘yuppie’ term that people came up with that had never really had a church life, and were wanting to get one started.    I really didn’t remember that they were words that Jesus actually spoke himself.  The night that the Pharisee Nicodemus came to Jesus, and Jesus said, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God."  "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born anew. John 3:1-8.

The passage is very clear; no one will make it to Heaven without a spiritual rebirth.  God asks each and every one of us to surrender our hearts, minds, souls and wills to Jesus.  Jesus will not come into your life without your invitation.  But the good news is, He is patiently waiting; "Behold I stand at the door and knock. If any man opens the door I will come into him and dine with him and he with me." Revelation 3:20.

The Eternal difference between a true Christian and a mere church goer centers around spiritual rebirth, or that term, Born Again.  Regeneration is what changes the heart.  It takes us from the world system and places us unto God’s Family as His adopted children.   To be Born Again, one must make a personal choice to surrender control of one's life to Jesus.  If you look at the big picture, you need to realize that eventually you are going to encounter Jesus, as either Savior or Judge.  It is a choice for everyone.  We can get to know Jesus NOW in our life as Lord and Savior and grow to know Him more as He helps us grow, OR we can put it off until we eventually meet Him as Judge of our sinful lives, when it will be too late.  The very first verse in Romans 8 tells us how a born Again follower of Christ ends up;  So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.

Asking Jesus to be the Lord and Savior over our lives sounds like big changes ahead.  But in reality it is one of the easiest things you can do.  God will give us His Holy Spirit to help us all the way; we just have to keep it on the track.  As you are lead to know God more, your day-to-day life will be at peace.   Romans 8:31 If God is for us, who can ever be against us?  When you are reborn you pass from death in sin to life in Christ, how can that not fill every day of your life with peace and joy.
