God's Will For Our Life

What is God’s Will for my life?  How will I know?  When will I find out?  Many Christians throughout the course of their lives want to find out what God’s Will is for THEM.  We understand that God has an overall plan for mankind, “that no one should perish but have everlasting life”.  But what is God’s Will for each person throughout their life?   How do we find this out?

In Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.  It states that the Will of God is both pleasing and perfect, and that all we have to do is renew our mind.  1Thessalonians 4:3, It is God’s will that you should be sanctified.   We find in the book of Romans that the work of sanctification is by God’s Grace, the Holy Spirit working in us to set us apart from sin, to make us Holy in the eyes of God, to live according to God’s Will.  The process of sanctification is a work-in-progress throughout a believer’s life, so that we can enter God’s presence free from any darkness and fully sanctified.

Although sanctification is God’s ultimate Will for each believer’s life, God does have a purpose for all of us throughout our lives too.  He will supply all the needs of those that love and trust Him.  “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart”.  The best way to understand what God’s Will is is to have a relationship with Him, through Prayer, a daily line of communication.  The more knowledge you have in God’s word, the more understanding of His Will you will have.

As you study the Bible and pray to know God’s Will for your life the Holy Spirit will guide you to the end.  If your heart is set on pleasing God, you will not miss His plan for your life.  Always remember James 1:5, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give generously to you without finding fault.”   He has perfect plans for imperfect people.

His directions will come in many forms.  A passage in the Bible might stand out to you, some event or circumstance might make something evident to you, the Holy Spirit could speak to your heart, or it could be something you read or heard.  God has many ways to get the message to you if you are open and looking to receive it.
